Allies for Children was proud to be one of 26 organizations providing comments for the Development of the FFY 2020 State Plan for the WIC Program. The sign-on letter focuses on three areas of recommendations: improving the transparency of Pennsylvania’s WIC program, streamlining services including eligibility determinations and recertification, and reducing barriers to in-person appointments. In Pennsylvania, only 49.9% of the women, infants, and young children who are eligible for WIC services currently participate in the program. We must work to modernize and reinvigorate Pennsylvania’s program in order to ensure children and families have access to these vital services, setting them up for healthy and successful futures.
