Please join Allies for Children and Pennsylvania advocates TODAY to #SaveCHIP!
The Children’s Health Insurance Program’s (CHIP) funding expired on September 30, and Congress has failed to take action to re-authorize the program, despite recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that a 10-year extension of CHIP would reduce the deficit. Congress’s inaction has resulted in health care coverage being in jeopardy for over 14,000 children in Allegheny County and over 180,000 children in Pennsylvania.
These kids & families can’t wait while Congress plays political games with their health coverage. Please join Allies for Children and Pennsylvania advocates TODAY in a statewide day of action to #SaveCHIP!
For more than two decades, CHIP has successfully served children from all sorts of families as they grow. Our children must not lose their health care.
Today is the day for advocates, parents, caretakers and others who count on CHIP to use their voices to call upon Congress to take action to protect children’s health coverage, reassuring families and promising our children continued access to the health care services they need to grow and thrive.
Throughout the day you will be seeing social media messages from Allies for Children and our partner organizations. Please share these with your networks. Advocates are also asking families to share their stories with legislative offices, so they hear first-hand the role that CHIP plays for so many families in Allegheny County and Pennsylvania.
We hope you will join us in sharing how crucial CHIP is to the children in our state and county and the impact Congress’ inaction will have on our children and families.
