Laura Condon grew up in Pittsburgh’s Morningside neighborhood with her parents and younger brother, and her grandparents close at hand. Her family always supported all of her academic and professional endeavors, and helped her find the best path to follow her dreams.

Laura is a graduate of Pittsburgh CAPA where she began learning how to achieve her goal of writing and creating magical worlds like those that inspired her. She received a scholarship to the Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing and a Children’s Literature Certificate. Laura was also able to pursue her passion for history by obtaining a Minor in American History.

During her senior year at Pitt, Laura interned at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s main branch in Oakland. Her time working in the New & Featured Department showed Laura how much she loved working with and for the public, especially the library’s younger patrons. Some of the best moments were when the kids she worked with got excited to tell her about their favorite subjects.

Serving as Project Coordinator at Allies for Children is Laura’s first step into the world of policy and advocacy, and she’s eager to learn and get started.

Laura lives in Millvale with her cat, Beans. When she’s not trying to keep him off her keyboard, you can find her crafting and baking to share the spoils with her family and friends, or maybe indulging her not-so-secret love for action movies.
